On March 2, Binghamton Running Club traveled to Harvard to compete in Harvard Invitational Indoor Track Meet. It should come as no surprise that the BRC runners had impressive performances, with members competing in the One Mile Run and 800 Meter Run.
In the One Mile Run, freshman Matthew Jacob ran a 4:29.0 and placed third overall. Sophomore Dylan Mitlof ran a 4:48.2, placing 18th. Junior Jasper Suhr was not far behind, running 4:57.0 and placing 25th. It was not only the girls who dropped such outstanding times; freshman Sara Chazik ran a 6:26.0 and placed 24th overall. In the 800 Meter Run, Matthew Jacob ran a 2:08.0, placing 11th overall. Freshman Aidan Connolly ran a 2:16.7, placing 22nd. Over in the girls' race, Sara Chazik ran a 2:58.0, placing 7th overall. On February 23rd, Binghamton Running Club traveled to Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island to compete in the Billy Brockmueller Invitational. Despite setting the bar very high at Happy Valley Invitational, BRC still managed to impress with some outstanding race finishes.
The guys kicked it into high gear, especially in the distance events. Freshman Ed Soriano ran a 16:52.8 in the 5k, placing 2nd. In the 1 Mile, freshman Matthew Jacob ran a 4:29.1 (placing 3rd) and junior Jasper Suhr ran a 4:52.5 (placing 15th). Later in the day, sophomore Dylan Mitlof finished the 3k in only 9:36.8, placing 8th. The guys also ran a 4x800m relay consisting of team members Matthew Jacob, Danny Peterson, Jack Richards, and Dylan Mitlof. They ran an 8:48.5 and placed third. The BRC guys ended up finishing 6th overall in the meet out of 18 teams. The girls were equally impressive with their times. Senior Megan Hannahan ran a 6:14.2 in the 1 Mile, placing 17th, and even came back later in the day to run 1:10.7 in the 400 and place 5th. Freshman Sara Chazik ran both a 2:51.9 800 and 12:42.0 3k, earning her 17th and 10th place finishes respectively; both races were personal bests for her. Freshman Sarah Vener also competed in the 3k, running 12:15.0 and placing 8th. The BRC girls ended up finishing 14th in the meet overall. For complete results, check the "Race Schedule" tab.
