On October 20th, BRC traveled to West Windsor Fields in New Jersey to compete in Princeton Invitational. The last meet before our championships, our team didn't hold back and showed that we would be formidable opponents to the other NIRCA teams at Regionals.
Our boys' team came in second place in the 8k, losing only to the Princeton boys themselves. Freshman Michael Dua came in second place overall, running an outstanding 25:52.8. After him came freshman Brian Curtis; running a 27:06.3 and placing eighteenth overall, him and Dua showed that the freshmen have a lot to offer to the team this year. Sophomore Brian Egan was not far behind, finishing in 27:10.5 and placing 22nd overall. Other scoring members were senior Connor Fitzpatrick and sophomore Edward Soriano, running 27:19.9 and 27:24.7 respectively. Freshmen Max Jaffe (27:40.8) and Adam Silhavy (28:14.0) rounded out our team's top seven. In the women's 6k, BRC managed to snag a seventh place team finish. Junior Claire Ashton (her first time racing in a BRC jersey) led our team with an impressive 25:36.4, placing 20th overall. Sophomore Meghan Jozefczyk was a mere ten seconds behind, crossing the line in 25:45.0 and placing 22nd overall. Graduate student Bronwyn Lee also had a great race, finishing with a time of of 26:46.2. Sophomore Alexa Mosca (27:32.3) and junior Sandra Re (31:15.4) rounded out our team's top five. This past Saturday, Binghamton Running Club hosted its annual BRC Open on its campus. Despite strong shows from the other teams in attendance, our team still managed to stand out.
In the men's 8k, Binghamton Running Club managed to snag a first place finish. Freshman Michael Due pulled off the impressive feat of placing first overall, finishing with a time of 27:55.3. Freshman Brian Curtis was not far behind, running 28:08.6 and placing third overall. In fact, a total of six runners from our team placed in the top ten. Junior John Murphy placed fourth (28:10.0), sophomore Edward Soriano placed sixth (28:25.5), senior Connor Fitzpatrick placed seventh (28:35.4), and freshman Adam Silhavy placed tenth (29:26.5). Junior Dylan Mitlof crossed the line in eleventh place with 29:27.8, rounding out the team's top seven. The women's team also pulled off a victory in the 5k. Crossing the line first for Binghamton was sophomore Sarah Vener, running 21:14.2 and placing second overall. Also running an impressive time was sophomore Annalise Jarksi, finishing at 22:05.2 and placing fifth overall. Not far behind were freshman Elena Billings (22:21.7) and sophomore Meghan Jozefczyk (22:42.3). The next Binghamton woman to cross the line was sophomore Alexa Mosca at 23:41.6. Sophomore Sara Chazik (24:11.3) and freshman Claire Hejaily (24:39.5) rounded out the team's top seven. Complete results can be found in the "Race Schedule" tab. On September 28th, Binghamton Running Club traveled to Penn State to compete in the Nittany Lion Invitational. Despite some stiff competition, our runners stood out from the crowd.
Our men's team came in fourth place out of eleven teams in the 8k. Sophomore Matt Jacob came in first place overall in the meet, running at outstanding 25:38.0. Freshman Michael Dua also managed to make the top 10, finishing with a time of 26:43.1 and placing 7th overall. Sophomore Brian Curtis ran 28:17.6 and not far behind was freshman Max Jaffe with a 28:54.6. Sophomore Edward Soriano ran a 29:37.6, rounding out BRC's top five. Our woman's team also had its fair share of standout performances in the 6k. Sophomore Annalise Jarksi finished with a time of 25:47.6, placing 23rd overall. Sophomore Megan Jozefczyk was not far behind, running 26:00.9. Other impressive finishes came from sophomores Sara Chazik and Alexa Mosca, getting times of 28:35.7 and 29:04.6 respectively.
